I previously reviewed Eschalon: Book 1 here.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Eschalon: Book I, Basilisk Games have decided to release the full version, for free, via their website, Steam, or Good Old Games. Click here for more details.
For those who can’t be fucked reading my original review of the game, it is an old school, top down, single player indie RPG which really struck a chord with retro-gamers upon release. Now, 10 years later, it is available for free. I hadn’t played it for a while, so I re-downloaded the free version and gave it a spin. It works just flawlessly under Windows 10, but unfortunately cannot be made widescreen, so it retains it’s 4:3 aspect ratio.
Still, at the attractive price tag of ‘nothing’ you really have no excuse not to try this awesome little RPG. Well, unless of course you actually have friends, family or a purpose in life. But fuck that noise, lock yourself in a dimly-lit room and play the shit out of this game. You will not be dissapointed.
