This is a module for the game Neverwinter Nights. While these modules are free to download and play, the game engine needed to run them is not. Check out Steam or Good Old Games to grab a copy.
Mountain of Mirrors is a module for Neverwinter Nights, which was re-released as an Enhanced Edition not long ago and has re-kindled my love for the game. The original Mountain of Mirrors was actually one of those choose-your-own adventure books, rather than a playable D&D module that you could play with friends.
Mountain of Mirrors for Neverwinter Nights is a relatively short module. You start out in a small village and are given the task of adventuring to the Mountain of Mirrors to see what has stopped supply caravans from arriving. I don’t know why that particular plot device is so popular in role playing games, but whatever works.
What follows is a fantastic little adventure that really feels like playing through a choose-your-own adventure book. From the characters to the dialogue through to the overall atmosphere of the module, it all works. While there is a lot of hacking and slashing, there is also a lot of role playing and problem solving. There aren’t any really difficult puzzles or impossible fights, so the progression of the module itself is quite smooth and well paced.
Like I said, the Mountain of Mirrors is short, but satisfying. It is most definitely for lower level characters, though a fresh level 1 character might be too weak to solo with.
Being a fan-made module it is free, so go ahead and give it a try. Click here to go to the download page.
